MAJESTIC THEATER    74 East 100 South    Opened: 1907    Closed: 1911

The Majestic Theater, located at 74 East 100 South, opened late in 1907.

According to the promoters, the new theater would be the best west of Chicago and would have many of the best points that the really high-class theaters back East had.

Before building could commence for the new theater, on First South, the three storerooms at 72, 74, and 76 East each had to be cleared out. It was estimated that it would cost $25,000 to clear out the storerooms and install the new equipment.

Due to an ordinance that stated no saloon could be within 50 feet of a theater or place of public amusement, three saloons on First South had to close down when their leases ran out and the new theater opened.
