MISSION THEATER    56 East 300 South    Opened: 1909    Closed: 1912

The Mission Theater was set to open in September of 1909, but due to multiple issues the theater didn't open until November 1909. The Mission building was a six story structure and the theater itself was designed after the San Gabriel Mission in California, adorned with dark carpets and drapes thoughout. After the original plans were created, the theater was enlarged to 1200 seats. And to ensure the latest in safety, the projection booth was enclosed in steel and concrete.

Recently manager Joe E. Clark and associates had lost their lease with the Lyric Theatre, but with the opening of the Mission Theater they were able to bring Sullivan and Considine shows back to Salt Lake City.
