The Shubert Theater, located at 321 South Main Street, was previously known as the Lyric Theater.

On November 15th, 1909 the Shubert Theater opened with a lease to show the Shubert productions until May of 1910. Business didn't do as well as expected ,and in January of 1910 the management of the theater changed. The new management offered some of the first talking pictures, as well as, a standard vaudeville bill.

Harry Revier, the manager of the Majestic Theater on First South, became the new owner of the Shubert Theater on the first of December, 1910 and announced that he would remodel the theater into one of the most comfortable in the city. Opening in time for Christmas, the new theater had changed its name to the Revier Theater.

The Revier Theater was open until February of 1911 when Max Florence purchased it, then changed the name back to the Shubert Theater and began showing motion pictures.

A fire broke out on the stage of the theater on January 17th, 1912 and completely engulfed the roof of the building. Luckily the theater had closed the day before due to lack of business and was empty. Nearby buildings and offices were threatened by the burning embers and a sleeping family was discovered on the second floor, but the local firemen were able to save them and no lives were lost in the blaze.
